Musings

Sometimes, things seem so unfair.

How is it possible that a man can get thrown into jail for several months, just for picking up sticks off the ground to sell for firewood to earn some money for his family, yet if he were to offer the right people a bribe he could get away with cutting down trees?

Why in this country are some people living in huge, beautiful houses with acres of land, cars and plenty to eat when others have so little?

How can a child walk miles to school each day with an empty stomach and holes in their shoes?

Why do I have so many clothes when the children come to school with dirty, tattered clothes every day - often the same ones all week?

What is a mother supposed to do when she has been seriously ill and in hospital with TB, she has five children and at least two of them are ill? How is she to afford to take them to the doctor and then buy whatever medicine they need when she can't afford to feed them?

I know some of these questions are not new ones, and I'm sorry to sound sad, but I am feeling a little helpless at the moment. The boy I have mentioned before - with the long hair and the smile - is ill and has been off school for 3 days so far, and I am so worried about him, but we don't even know exactly where he lives and his brother is not at school to take us there as he is ill too. They are the family in my last question. The mum was going to take him to the doctor but I don't know what the outcome will be. If you pray, please pray for them all and for us that we would know what we can do and would do it.
